Yesterday afternoon it started snowing and it turned into a blizzard. There was no school for Clara as a result. I did have more productive and busy plans for the day, but the girls and I just stayed home. Brians shoveled the sidewalks before he left...which is more work that where we lived previously since we live on the corner. Clara desparately wanted to go out when Brian did, but it was really chilly. I managed to divert her attention for awhile, and maybe it warmed up just slightly. We got all bundled up and went out to play. Nora liked it for a bit, but she kept taking her mitten off or it kept falling off, so her hand was getting cold and she didn't like that at all. Luckily I can keep an eye on Clara out the window pretty well while she plays in the backyard, so she got to stay outside even though Nora went in. She was well bundled up so I wasn't too worried about her and she pulled the sled around the yard to try out another part of the slope in the backyard. And, then she played on the swingset. And then wandered around some more. It all ended though, when I saw her heading towards the street to try out sledding there. So, though she still wanted to be outside, her time was up.
After lunch and a nap, we went out again. Nora wore a different pair of mittens, so she lasted a bit longer. They made some snow angels and we walked to go get the mail down the block. I convinced them to come inside by promising to make cookies after supper. So, after supper we did just that...we made ginger cookies.
So, I'm thankful for snow days!
Also, on Tuesday, we reached a milestone here. I asked Clara to help with some cleaning chores...and she actually was very helpful and didn't complain. I did say that I would pay her and Grandma was coming to stay that night, so she did have some motivation. I asked her to sweep the stairs and after she was done sweeping, she found a rag and mopped them, too. Then, she wanted to dust the baseboards. Who am I to argue with that?

We had a snow day too! Clara is too funny--it takes a lot to get me out of the snow as well..:) Sounds like a fun day!
Dear Misty.
I'm so glad you've started posting again.
It looks like your hard work has paid off, a baseboard cleaner is priceless!
