So I was trying to give my blog a facelift, but it isn't finished. Thus far I've made things worse...I deleted all of my links and some of the font colors are all wrong. Since these days I rarely get a chance to finish something I start within the same day, it's been bugging me all week. Maybe I'll get it fixed tonight...or not.
Clara is now 9 months old and she is a learning sponge. A few weeks ago she learned the sign for milk (think of what milking a cow looks like). At first she used it indiscriminately, but I think she has figured out how to use it just for milk. When I went to get her out of the back seat of the car today after getting groceries, she was hungry and was making the sign for milk with both hands. It was pretty cute. She also waves hi and bye. If she sees a baby somewhere she'll wave at them. And, every night she waves bye to Daddy when it is time for bed. She has been eating solid food for a few weeks. We've tried avacados, bananas, applesauce, and rice cereal. One of these days very soon I'll cook some sweet potatoes and some carrots. So far she hasn't refused to eat anything, although she does get some strange looks on her face when she first tries something new. Clara doesn't really crawl yet. If you put something she really wants just out of her reach she can move herself forward army crawl style, but it is with much protest. She hasn't ever been a fan of tummy time, so that's probably the reason for the slow going. She will stand up on her own, though, if I put her next to the couch. And, how could I forget...her first tooth made its appearance last Thursday. It still isn't all the way up, so she has still been fussy and not sleeping well this week. The same day her tooth popped up she got a cold. She had had a runny and stuffy nose before, but this cold settled in her chest and just generally made her miserable for a few days. Between the cold and teething, she is finally getting back to her normal, happy self.

Here is a self portrait of Clara and I taken a couple of weeks ago on the first warm day. We celebrated by going to the park.

Great post! And I know I say this pretty much every time I comment, but Clara is SO BEAUTIFUL!
As far as good people near Coeur d'Alene, I worked for a year at UCA, which is just an hour away. It's also not TOO far from Walla Walla, Seattle, Portland, and Boise, all places where I have friends and relatives. Ahhh, the Northwest.
Misty, thank you for this post. I love the little details about all the new things Clara's doing. This auntie appreciates getting a little taste of all the things she'd otherwise miss.
