Is There Ice Cream Involved?

Last Thursday Brian wanted to go for a bike ride in the middle of the afternoon while it was hot and sticky. I really did not want to go until he offered that we could get a treat at the library if I went. The new library in town has a smoothie shop and happens to be right along the Duck Creek bike path. The new library is also on the opposite side of town, so it involves quite a bit of riding. We rode all the way to the library only to find out that Thursdays are the days the library is closed.

Now we needed a new destination. On our way home, just a short distance off of the trail on Division Street is a diner style restaurant called Maid-Rite. For real food, they pretty much just serve burgers, but they do make some pretty good milk shakes as well. So we stopped at Maid-Rite and shared a strawberry milkshake. The calories from the milkshake probably came close to the number of calories burned while biking, but it sure made my bike ride worthwhile.

Last night we biked around the neighborhood to enjoy the pleasant evening following the rain. We ended up surveying the siding on houses so that someday in the future we can decide if we want to restore the cedar siding and do something with the ugly shingles on the 2nd level or just cover the house with vinyl. It is still up for debate. I took advantage of having bought a girl's bike and wore a skirt while riding. That was fun.

Tomorrow I'm giving the final for my summer class. Perhaps I will then be free of Black Hawk College. But, then again, maybe not, as I have yet to find a different job. There are still some possibilities, but if they don't come through then I'll have two classes to teach at Black Hawk this fall.
