Day 7 - Holiday Decorating

Yesterday I was thankful that Nora was feeling better!

Today I'm thankful that we decorated for Christmas...none too early. The past couple of years we have just decorated at the practice and not really done anything at home, mostly because once the quarter ends, then the girls and I have headed west to visit my family. This year we are not leaving quite as soon and I figured it was worth it. When I went to get a tree today I wanted a small one because I wanted to be able to decorate it easily. The live trees in nice pots were on clearance for only a bit more than a "dead" tree, so I figured that would work. It has mostly worked...except the two times it has fallen over. Once was on the way home in the van...still have to vacuum up the dirt that spilled. Then, tonight the girls were playing/wrestling by it and knocked it over. I'm not sure of the tree's final destination, but we'll figure out something...maybe Brian's parents would like to plant it at the farm. In the bottom corner of the picture above you can see one present. Clara spent a good long while this afternoon making some special pictures for Nora. Then she found some wrapping paper and a bow and we wrapped them up...it was very sweet.

Tonight I turned out all the lights in the house and had fun taking some pictures. And, I've been enjoying sitting by the light of the tree and listening to Christmas music.

And, one last picture from earlier...Clara's holding up the baby Jesus from the nativity set.

What a pretty little tree! I recognize the window sill and the curtain, and it brings back our Christmas memories in that house! We usually had a small tree, also, but two years we had a big artificial one. It was so big around and so bright that we finally donated it to the church, where it fit much better!
So glad you are settled in and are enjoying the house!
