Adorable!

First of all, we are loving our "new" house! It gives me lots of warm, fuzzy feelings to spend time in it and to invite people to share the space. After the first night, Clara said it felt like we were visiting, but since then both girls seem to have settled in just fine. There is a boy that lives next door that they love to play with. There are also a couple of friendly dogs that live next door, that the girls also love to play with. Most things are getting settled in, but there is one box that I still haven't unpacked and need to. We knew the house would need a new roof and that is now in process (thank goodness there is no rain in the forecast). We've had people over to eat for four meals in the last three days. It is so nice to be able to all sit around the table and enjoy the meal! But, my kitchen is feeling the effects and tomorrow it will be a job to clean up.

Anyways, the story I wanted to make sure to record was from today at church. Today was communion and it just so happened that one of Clara's friends from school came to our church today. Clara's friend sat with us during the regular church service and then when it was time for communion she asked her friend if she could wash her feet. After her parents agreed, the first stop was to take of tights in the bathroom. =) Then one of them carried the water and the other the towel. Clara washed her friends' feet and then they went back to get more water and a new towel. Then the friend washed her feet. Then, when they realized that my feet hadn't been washed yet, they went back for more water and another towel. And then, they each washed one of my feet. It was the sweetest footwashing I've ever received! The best part was that the whole time they were happy and giggling, being their precious little selves. I can only hope that their entire lives will be just like that, happily serving others! The rest of the Communion service was pretty uneventful, but all three girls did a good job of staying quiet...which is a feat in itself sometimes. =)

The other big news around here is that Clara has learned to ride her bike without training wheels. Everyday when she gets home she hops on it and rides up and down the sidewalk for a very long time. Today we really tested out her skills by letting her ride her bike from our house to one of the bike trails and then eventually on a dirt trail through Wilderness Park. She probably rode 5 or 6 miles before she was completely tired out and I finally told her to get in the trailer and rest awhile. We balanced her bike on top of the trailer, which gave Brian a pretty big load to pull. Both he and Clara went right to sleep tonight. =) Nora took a nap in the trailer for awhile and was quite well rested after the ride, but she still went right to sleep, too.

Oh, I also wanted to let you know that I've started another blog. It's main target audience is my students, so there is more sciencey stuff over there. I'll still be posting here as well...I will make sure to post some pictures soon of the house and stuff. Here is the link: http://lifescienceintersect.wordpress.com.
