Goodbye House

Last Sunday was the first open house. We had lots of people stop by to take a look, including a few that were there for the second time. We also had friends and neighbors stop by to see the finished product and tell us goodbye. Before Sunday was done we had two offers to buy the house. The next day, one of the original people to make an offer increased theirs to full price. Two more offers later, we ended up accepting an offer that is more than we were asking, plus, the buyer pays closing costs and for a one year home warranty. Monday was a bit crazy trying to keep track of the offers and letting people know someone had made a better offer.

The house was on the market a total of five days and we could not be happier. Well, we're still holding our breath a little bit until the inspection tomorrow is completed and the house is appraised for the full loan amount. Since we are selling the house ourselves, we have hired a lawyer to take care of the paperwork for us. We'll give the lawyer power of attorney to sign all of the papers for us, which means Brian could be leaving Davenport for good, very, very soon.

And, what will Brian do without a house to fix? I guess he will have to work as a chiropractor. =) Last board exam results are not available quite yet, so he'll have some time to network and find a doctor to associate with. At any rate, Clara and I will be happy to have him under the same roof and not a state away.
