Progress

As you faithful readers know, especially the ones that have visited our house in the past few years, we have been in a permanent remodeling state. Last week we hired someone to finish the drywall in the dining room and to hang and finish drywall in the kitchen. Now some serious progress is being made. There is currently nothing in the kitchen...no sink, cabinets, stove or fridge. Cabinets and sink are in the alley and the stove and fridge are in the living room. This all happened on Friday. Today we got a hot plate and set up a temporary kitchen in the basement. It is nice to have some semblance of normalcy amidst this chaos. Clara loves playing with the tools that are being stored in the dining room and would really like to climb on the ladders. Today Brian made the ladder "scary" by moving it while I was holding her on it and that convinced her that climbing was a bad idea. This will save me from having a miniature heart attack when I look to see what she is doing and find her on the second rung of the ladder. This remodeling process is sure to get worse before it gets better, but I'm really looking forward to the finished product, even though I will have minimal time to enjoy it before we move somewhere this summer.

As for where we are moving...I have been applying for jobs and we're hoping that I'll get a job and that will make up our minds about where we should move. The possibilities are near Sacramento, CA, Kalispell, MT, and Greeley, CO. Also, I found a couple of positions in Lincoln, NE, that I suppose I should apply for.

Brian leaves this Thursday on a Clinic Abroad trip through Palmer to the Caribbean island of Bequia. I wish that Clara and I could go too, but it doesn't work that way. I must stay and work while Brian is sunning himself on the beach. Actually, he'll be working pretty hard for 10 days adjusting people all over the seven square mile island. I'm excited for him to have this experience, even though I'll be missing him while I shuttle Clara between 2 babysitters and keep on top of this remodeling project, all while keeping my students on their toes.

Dare I ask for some pictures of the progress?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Whoa, Ellen beat me to it; I was going to ask for pictures, too. I wish there was some way I could come see it before you move.

Pictures will be forthcoming, but not until Brian returns with the camera. It would be fun if you both could come visit before we sell.
